Gandalf can do anything a force user can do and more.  He fucking died and was reborn through pure force of will. 
When Anakin almost died, he had to have some other poor saps rebuild his body for him.  :rolleyes:

To be fair, Gandalf would probably have a hard time even getting close to Mr. Vader due to the Empire he surrounds himself with.

After all, he sent hobbits to Mt. Doom because he couldn't get through the defenses himself.

Gandalf fought the Balrog, died, then came back to life. Darth Vader fell into lava and was turned into a robot. Gandalf is the strongest and wisest of the Maiar (essentially angels created at the beginning of time). You don't even see the power of Gandalf in the films or books, not sure about the Simarillion though. Vader's just a faggot whose bitch died, then he got mad and fucked over by the Pope of Star Wars.
