    #20196134 - 06/27/14 08:51 PM (9 years, 8 months ago)

Location: mixed forest in northern WI.  growing on a hemlock log I believe.

Pics should show the rest.

Sorry, all I've got is a cellphone.

thanks for the quick reply.  I'm just getting back into mushroom hunting,  brushing off the cobwebs.

Most are a little soggy, too far gone already.

There are some fresh pins though.

How big should I let them get for ideal texture/taste?

I am just a straight up harvester when I find them, I only get around twice a week on a good week so I take whatever I know is tasty and not too bug ridden, some cultivators might could chime in on grow times but I say get while the gettin is good, no telling what tomorrow brings

This is in the Nicolet. or private land within a mile of it at least.

It has been a late start to summer but It's been raining pretty much every day lately.  things are starting to explode,  I'll be posting a bunch more pics the next few days.

I'm usually up here in August when the boletes are going nuts.  Havn't seen any boletes yet.

a lot of white amanitas and all sorts of tiny little mycena.  and oysters of course

Awesome, never found boletes myself. Just got back from the lakewood area and spotted a couple chicken of the woods and plenty of other fungi, not to mention a momma black bear and three cubs. That woods is bursting with life right now.
