Just sharing some pics from a hike today, ID's welcome on the Marasmius and the lichen and the snake if anyone knows anything about snakes?

1. Panellus stipticus:

2. Marasmius sp. (maybe M. epiphyllus:
Very small, pileus diameter 5mm, stipe width 0.9 mm.  Found growing on the petiole of a well decayed leaf (possibly Birch):

3. Foliose lichen with a distinctive red lobe tip? I will have these on MO as well:

4. Snake:

5. This is the waterfall at the start of the trail, I slowed the shutter speed down alot to get the effect of the water, but it got whited out so if anyone knows how people get that same effect without letting so much light in, let me know

Hi, have you considered Marasmiellus for your #2?  Maybe Marasmiellus candidus (Bolton) Singer?
I voted yes on MO to Peltigera sp.

Love the waterfall

Yeh! At first I thought you meant Rat as in short for rattlesnake but no you're right thats definately it: its a juvenile Grey Rat Snake.  Thank you for the ID!

Thanks, I'm learning to use this camera, it's the best waterfall picture I've taken, they normally turn out like a monkey took the picure...

Thanks for taking a look at it, I updated the MO observation with measurements.  I was thinking epiphyllus due to size, eastern distribution, and preference for growing on leaves.  I can probably post microscopy if anyone might find that useful.  Thanks again!

Oooo, that lichen is really interesting. Neat finds.

For waterfall photography during the day you either have to have a camera that lets you set extremely small apertures to make up for the slow shutter speed, or you have to use some sort of physical filter to restrict the amount of light that enters the lens. Polarizing filters and neutral density filters are your two options.
